Center for Coalfield Justice GIS Initiative

My name is Eddie Werner and I am a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) intern at the Center for Coalfield Justice which is located in Washington, PA. Our goal is to inform the public about the effects coal mining has on the environment and local communities. I am using GIS to map Washington and Greene county. These maps are highly interactive during the creation process, allowing me to input the layers deemed necessary to show the effects of coal mining. Below you will see general reference maps I have made with GIS. Click on the maps to open them in PDF format. This will allow for a more detailed view and printing options. When printing, make sure you click on the "Page Scaling" drop down box and select "Fit to Printable Area." This will make sure the map fits within the margins. Comprehensive mining maps will be added shortly.
